Couples & Marriage Therapy in Dubai
Support for communication, trust, intimacy, and the decisions that come with them, with Dr. Fatima Abdullah. In person in Dubai and Sharjah, or online across the UAE.
What Is Couples Therapy?
Couples therapy is structured psychological support for two people in a relationship, focused on the pattern between them rather than on deciding who is at fault. Sessions address communication, conflict, trust, intimacy, and the decisions a couple is facing.
Most couples arrive having had the same argument many times. What keeps it going is rarely the subject of the argument, it is the cycle underneath: one partner pursues, the other withdraws, and both end up feeling unheard. Therapy makes that cycle visible so it can be interrupted.
Dr. Fatima Abdullah works with couples in English and Arabic, drawing on more than 20 years in mental health and education. Sessions are even-handed, and neither partner is positioned as the problem to be fixed.

What Does Couples Therapy Address?
Couples come to Enliven for communication breakdown, trust and infidelity, lost intimacy, escalating conflict, and the pressures specific to building a life in the UAE. You do not need a crisis to justify starting.
Communication Breakdown
The same argument on repeat, conversations that end in silence, or feeling unheard however often you explain.
Trust & Infidelity
Rebuilding after a breach of trust, or working through suspicion, secrecy, and emotional affairs.
Intimacy & Disconnection
Growing apart, mismatched needs, or living together while feeling more like housemates than partners.
Conflict & Anger
Escalating rows, stonewalling, or patterns where one pursues and the other withdraws.
Life Transitions
Relocation to the UAE, new parenthood, career pressure, or in-law and extended-family strain.
Cross-Cultural Relationships
Differing expectations around family, faith, parenting, and money, common among expat couples in the Emirates.
How Does Couples Therapy Work at Enliven?
Work usually begins with each partner seen separately, then moves to joint sessions once both feel heard. The aim is to change the pattern between you, not to referee individual arguments.
Individual Perspectives
Each partner is heard separately first, so neither arrives at joint sessions feeling outnumbered. This also surfaces anything that needs care before it is raised together.
Mapping the Pattern
The focus moves from who is at fault to the cycle you are both caught in. Naming that pattern is usually the point where couples stop arguing about the argument.
Rebuilding
Practical work on communication, repair after conflict, and rebuilding closeness, with tasks between sessions so change happens at home, not only in the room.

Marriage Counselling in Sharjah & Dubai
Marriage counselling is available in person at Aljada in Sharjah and at the Al Jadaf clinic in Dubai, as well as online across the UAE. Sessions run seven days a week between 8:00 am and 11:00 pm, which makes evening appointments practical when both partners work.
Online sessions are a common choice for couples in different emirates, or where one partner travels for work. The format does not reduce the quality of the work, and many couples use a mix of in-person and video sessions.
For individual support alongside couples work, see counselling in Sharjah and counselling in Dubai.
How Long Does Couples Therapy Take?
Communication-focused work often shows change within 6–10 sessions. Rebuilding after a breach of trust takes considerably longer. These are typical ranges rather than promises, and depend on what both partners want from the process.
| Focus of the work | Typical course | What it involves |
|---|---|---|
| Communication and conflict | 6-10 sessions | Breaking a recurring argument cycle and learning to repair after conflict. |
| Rebuilding after infidelity | 4-9 months | Stabilisation first, then understanding the breach, then deciding together. |
| Long-term disconnection | 3-6 months | Re-establishing intimacy and shared direction after years of drift. |
| Separation support | 4-8 sessions | Structured, lower-harm separation, particularly where children are involved. |
How Much Does Couples Therapy Cost in Dubai?
A discovery session is AED 500 for 50 minutes. Individual couples sessions are AED 650. Session bundles reduce the per-session rate: five sessions for AED 3,000 and twenty sessions for AED 10,000.
Enliven is a private-pay practice and does not bill insurers directly. An itemised receipt is issued after every session for reimbursement claims, and many UAE health plans cover part of mental health fees.
